We arrived at 7:45 pm at the Alpine House in Jackson, WY after an almost 11 hour drive. Wyoming is big!! We unpacked and then went for dinner at the SilverDollar Grill at the historic Wort Hotel. The food was excellent - can highly recommend it.
In any case, the long drive was rewarded by a spectacular view of the Grand Tetons (not our picture above - borrowed from the web just to give you an idea what we saw) as we came down into the valley.
Here's a picture we shot. Not quite as impressive as the one above, but you can tell it was a nice view, especially with the sun streaking in through the clouds.
But what was even more amazing is what we saw before that: a live, wild bear just as we reached the Continental Divide. See the two pictures - the bear is a bit hard to make out but he (she?) is right in the center. Also, note the deer in the first picture (right background). Unfortunately, I was so excited that the first two pics which would have had a better shot of the bear are fuzzy. It was absolutely amazing to see such an animal just walking around and not in a Zoo - made the Buffalo from this am look like yesterday's news.
Tomorrow, we'll be off whitewater rafting and then horseback riding.
