We headed to the Wind Caves National Park, just south of Custer State Park. Wind Caves are the fourth largest caves in the world (Mammoth Cave in Kentucky are the largest - in case you wondered - C did, so I asked).
They give guided tours of the cave system and I was sure that C would think that is cool. Alas, he couldn't wait to get back up as you can tell from this picture. I thought it was fun and A enjoyed it as well. K waited for us on the top - she's not one for dark, enclosed spaces.
Because the cave is pretty dry there are no stalagmites and stalactites. However, there's Boxwork. A took this nice shot.
After the cave tour we went for a short hike, during which it rained and C wined. As soon as we were back at the car the sun came out and C stopped wining! We drove the Wild Life Loop, hoping to see some more wild life. But what got A & K most excited was a little puppy dog - so we stopped to pet that.
We stopped for some ice cream and then headed back to our cabin for some 4th of July grilling & smores. We were going to go to Custer to see the fireworks. But as the time approached to leave, we decided to forgo more driving and stay in our Cabin & play cards. Fireworks, Shmireworks ...
